Mike, this doesn't sound right. How's the oil going to get in? What bike is it, a Crusader I think?

The holes are only needed if there is a little end feed in the Conrad and then you only need one hole which you can drill with care

The oil will get in via the crank journal. So no feed hole in the conrod no hole in the bearing.

Different shell makers have different ideas, some have holes some have a grove all round the middle some have both some have none, the holes and grooves help to spread the oil around the bearing, this was fairly inportant when using monograde oil, modern multigrade is thinner at start up and fills the bearing without slots and grooves.

The shells are fine but use a muligrade oil.

Mike, I was having a brain seizure when I wrote my first reply, your shells should be fine. Some manufacturers used shells with holes for pressure relief especially on multi cylinder engines but on the Crusader it'll be fine.
