Hi all and Happy New Year.

After having my disc replaced last August, because it was warped, the new one only lasted about 4 months before it also developed the same problem, only more so with a runout of 0.7mm.

My German dealer has just fitted a 2nd replacement under warranty, only this time he or the importer bought one from an unknown source in England. Maybe Hitchcocks, but it had now recognisable markings. Hoping for the best, it certainly feels very smooth so far. This was the first time the dealer had fitted this non-Enfield part, so we keep our fingers crossed if it doesn't work then I shall be ordering from Allan.

Warped disc,if it`s a floating caliper is it free to move also holding a disc brake on after stopping won`t help.

hi trevor,the disc might be manufactured by E.B.C ,i took my electra project for mot and the disc was shown to be warped on the brake testing gauge ,although on braking no pulsing could be felt through the lever anyway i,ll run it for a while until i get an ebc disc + pads am also going for the braded hose ,i will say this even with warped disc this brake is immense in comparison to the twin leader on my diesel although who needs brake on a diesel? atb paul.

Yes the disc, even warped, was much better than TLS of course. The 1st replacement, that had a larger warp, produced a pronounced pulse both at the lever and to braking. You might be right about the latest being an EBC. Strange, the outer cooling holes slope the opposite way to the original Enfield, for what, I don't know. I suppose the braded hose expands less with pressure, so reduces lever movement and gives more positive action, less spongy.

Trevor, they probably put the new disc on the other way around so the slots go the other way so you would think, WOW, this is much better lol

I had similar problems and thought at first the disck break was wobbed, but it turned out that the front wheel went out alignment. This was very simply remedied by removing and refitting the front wheel. How was the read out of the disk obtained? With the wheel in situ or removed?

Hi Roeland,

The wheel alignment was perfect, but the disc distortion (runout) was measured with a Cambridge Instruments dial Gauge. The 1st replacement distorted after only 3 months and 1,000km. Seems to be common on this EFI, hence Hitchcocks are sourcing new discs from EBC, which was probably the source of my 2nd replacement. Probably wan't know for a few months if it works, as I tend to ride my Piaggio X10, when the weather is so cold over here.
