Hi Seasons Greetings to you all.
Just fitted Hitchcocks' free flow exhaust and short silencer to my Electra X. It runs OK so far in the workshop - will I have to fit larger pilot and main jets? Any suggestions as to size? Cheers.

You need to keep an eye on the plug colour by doing plug chops. This should give you an idea of the mixture (plus how the engine is running once under load of course) You won't get the full benefit of a free flow exhaust unless you fit a free flow air filter as well (or so I found) I fitted the K&N which fits in the original filter location as I didn't like the added induction noise of a carb mounted one.

Hello GRAHAM 43, ----------- As per PETE F, plus}---- You will more than likely find that, with the K&N ( or any free-flow for that matter ) fitted your whole range of carburetion will be effected....Hopefully someone here can give you the actual jets needed---------So,what carb. is on at the moment ????--- THEN, when out on the road and having got it all set-up you'll realise there is now more power available, so an upgrade in output sprocket might be on the cards ?? Again, can anyone on here help with the size needed ??.......... Finally, SOUNDS GOOD, eh ???

hi graham ,i read with interest as i,m just getting to grips with my electra,are you running our hosts electra down pipe? i have 1 fitted along with the concentric amal kit our host supplies also i have the superb tappet adjusters supplied again by our host,my silencer is the stock indian market 350 bullet silencer with detachable tail pipe circa 2004 which i don,t like because the silencer part is too long but no where near as long as the uk bike part now thats a long cigar eh hombre?anyway the more i ride the hellectra the more i like it and the modifications supplied by our hosts all work superbley,if your running a stock carb i have an upjetted version that i no longer require so i could let you know what jets are in it ,will let you know via this thread if required atb paul.ps i run the S&B filter supplied with the carb the induction noise is acceptable to my deaf ears and the exhaust pops on the over run just like a goldstar what more could one want ....a diesel bullet i hear you say ....ive got one ! best of both worlds i,m just waiting for the new twin or maybe the continental gt efi happy days

Thanks everyone for the speedy replies. It still has the Mikuni 'stock' carb with the original filter so next stage would be to fit a free flow filter. I did this to make it noisier/louder, the original system was way too quiet. An extra hp would be a bonus. Grunda 12 any information on the jet sizes would be very helpful. Cheers.

Graham43,my recently aquired 535 lightning has a freeflow exhaust,i thought the freeflow was in the short silencer!
Also it is fitted with conicle freeflow mesh air filter.The jets have been changed but don`t know about the needle position,i took the carb off to check the choke/starter jet and now kick myself for not checking the jet numbers.It`s running slightly rich but i had a cell down in the battery (10.5v).I`m treading carefully because i don`t want a weak mixture as mentioned.

hi graham, the jets in this carb are pilot jet E15 possibly standard main jet 117.5 i was told by the previous owner that it had been upjetted to suit S&B air filter and freer running exhaust,i removed this set up because the rubber manifold was showing signs of deterioration and i wanted to fit the amal to keep up with our hosts stage 1 modifications atb paul ,ps it works well up to press i,m a happy bunny!
