Hello again all, Berties trailing arm is looking a bit rusty, was thinking of either coating it in rubberised stone chip or having it powder coated, just wondered what was involved in its removal and are there any special tools required ?

Hi BERTIE, ---------------- it was about 5 years ago when I swapped the swing-arm of my 65 for a trials one..... From what I can remember it's a straight forward un-bolt and re-assemble... The actual bushes are a press-fit in the assembly itself...BUT, why not just give the arms a good de-grease and apply a coat or two of Black Hammerite ?? I wouldn't go for powder coating myself as I've found that it will still stone chip...At least with Hammerite you can just pop some more on with a brush at any time ???-------------and it's cheaper than powder coating and doesn't need dismantling either !!

hi bertie ,i must aggree with alan ,i had a few powder coating jobs done in the past a swinging arm on a savage ,didn,t like it,as it chipped, and removed it with a big wire wheel then applied paint in my honest oppinion a proper job (in the words of dick strawbridge)i,m not a fan of hammerite although all my paint jobs look like it ! i used good old garden gate enamel from the £ shop cost 1 pound ,nowt of a job to remove the swinging arm paint and then refit!atb paul.

Hi all, I've ordered a can of Hammerite rubberised stone chip,hopefully this will do the job, I was concerned that I might need a press to refit the bushes if they are removed, I think I will try and sort the paint job out with the arm on the bike, thanks for the advice, nice to have different opinions , ideas and options.
