After a second test run from cold, without warm up, the cutting problem is better but not entirely cured. When I close the throttle, to change down, it almost stops, if I give it a blip, it backfires. 3rd run with a 2 minute warm up, behaves perfectly, so maybe the book is dead right.

On the plus side she runs beutifully, cruises at 80 km/h with ease (still running in at just under 1,000km.) Touched the magic ton for a few seconds, in normal riding position. Gets just as many wows as the "old one"

Satified and looking forward to the 18 tooth sprocket next month. Exhaust thump is still there with the standard puffer.

Best regards all

 Hi Trevor,

I'm not sure how long it takes, but I always start my bikes then put my gear on before riding off. Might help a bit

Hi Norm,

Letting it warm up on tickover solves the problem, however you pass the time, I usually go back up to my apartment, collect my pipe and tobacco, fill a bottle of water, or empty the bladder. My question is why it is necessary when my Yamaha X250 City, I can start and drive off immediately without a problem ever.. At least when the Bullet is warmed up, tickover is vary steady.

Hi Trevor,

I would have thought by now that you would not ask a question like that. Unlike your Yamaha, Enfields are individuals and because of this they behave in a unique manner unlike your 250 which is a clone of millions, all exactly the same, Sorry I don't know why it behaves this way

I had the shorter 'sports' exhaust fitted to my efi fron new and, i find that if i leave the bike ticking over for too long....she conks out. In traffic the idling is not even, it doesn't seem to find its happy place, still, she's an indivdual and to know her is to love her  :-)

Hi,

I have decided to settle for warming up, before heading out on the road, since when it is warmed, the engine behaves perfectly and seems to not know when I am waiting at the lights. So "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies.

Change subject: Do all EFI's have a big clunk when selecting 1st gear at standstill?

Norm, I chose character over smooth whining types like the Bonnie. The Yamaha is a testament to a company that started making musical instruments (Pianos and wind). However, India is the leading manufacturer of Bag Pipes. Nuff said.

Cheers
