Hello,

I'm new to this board, so please bear with me whilst I get the hang of it!

I bought my first big (and dream) bike as a teenager, it was a basket case Continental GT, and over the space of the next 5-10 years acquired 2 RE125s (also basket cases) whilst looking for GT bike bits. I bought my first "flea" (a 1949 burgundy one) because I loved the look of the engine, and the 2nd (a green WD one) because how could I not?!

Life moves on! Some 30 years later and a few house moves my Enfields are still with me, still in their boxes and still in my attic. I have recently had an unexpected illness which has given me more time on my hands, and with the prospect of getting a workshop next spring, my thoughts turned back to the bikes.

So, I'm looking to make contact with anyone who knows about or has RE125s (I'm staring with those first) for help and advice, to see real ones in the flesh, to try and find any missing parts and to see where to send things to to be fettled if I can't do it myself.

The kind man at Hitchcocks was great explaining what they'd got and how their on line stuff works but I am missing most of the tin work for these bikes and they don't have much of that though thankfully engine parts are in good supply.

Does anyone know what the model of the Villiers carb was on the green flea? My book says Villiers Type 3/2, but google doesn't find this.

Can I post pics on here?

I live near Ashbourne in Derbyshire but am happy to travel.

So, if anyone can help me, I'd be very appreciative.

Many thanks in advance.

Lucy

Lucy, Hitchcocks actually have a very original 1948 (?) Model RE on display in the shop, so going there would be a good start! I don't know if there is one in the National Motorcycle Museum but that is near Hitchcock's and a nice run down the A515 for you. There is also a website for WD REs, I haven't got the address to hand at the moment but I'm sure you can Google it.Let us know how you get on. By the way, the Military vehicle boys love the WD bikes but don't cross over much with us roadster types!

Hi Lucy!
I'm near completing the restoration of my 1951 RE2 and also have a basket case 1947 'flea' to be done in the future. I know more about the former and know a couple of people who have them. I've also got a few spares, but not loads.
The sammy miller museum has a couple of civilian fleas at their museum.
If you'd like to send me an email at [email protected] i'd be happy to help- although im no expert!
