In the process of overhauling the front forks on my 1965 Continental 250,the problem is when I screw the top spacer tube scroll to the main spring,no matter what I try the spring finishes up at an angle to the spacer tube, this is the same with both springs and top spacer tubes, so much so ,that it is difficult to insert the spacer tube/spring into the fork stanchion, with the result that the spring rubs the inside of the stanchion,I cannot imagine it will result in a good suspension feel when driven, any advice most welcome

Regards. Colin
