Electra X sidestand engine cut-out

Hello,
Is there a way of disabling the engine cut-out switch when the sidestand is down?
Until recently, my bike never cut-out when I used the sidestand, but for some reason it has now started working 'properly'.
I know it's supposed to be a safety mechanism, but I find it a real pain not being able to leave the engine running
when the bike is left on the sidestand for a few moments.
Don't know much about electrics, so please think "idiot's guide".
Many thanks,
Mikel.

Haven't done this because I would so often drive off with the side stand down, but handbook mentions a standby circuit in the left (nearside) panel can be disconnected.
Wiring diagram looks like this is the green wires in a single connector beside the battery.
Hope that helps.

Mike,
2 options here, take the switch off and turn it the other way or trace the wire back and unplug it

The switch is open when the stand is down andclosed when the stand is up. Two other possibilites:
1)Put tape round the switch to keep the contact closed
2)if there are two wires to the switch, join the ends, thus bypassing the switch.
Whether these are legal, I don't know, but you are trying to defeat a safety feature that is standard on all bikes since yonks. Good luck

Trevor,
This would only be a legal requirement if his sprag is still working lol

Thanks for the replies.
Will reconsider the safety implications of this mod.
Norm - original sprag still in place and working. Original black TCI unit still in use. 11,000 miles on the clock.
Thanks again,
Mike.

Like Alex says, open the battery compartment and disconnect the two green wires. I didn't like being caught out with a bike that wouldn't start when I forgot about the side stand being down but also didn't fancy joining the pole vaulting club at the first left hand bend.
I installed a relay powered by the neutral light to allow the side stand switch to be connected only when the neutral light goes out (gear selected).
Best of both worlds.

Surely the engine should work with the sidestand down but will stall if put into gear with stand down? Or is this just other makes?

Having few times taken off with lowered sidestand giving a bit scraping noise I assure it is not the end of the world. I can kick it up while moving away...
But having to heave the bike to centre stand every time when starting is annoying.
After disconnecting the green wire I eventually took the whole switch assembly off as it left some wire annoyingly hanging.

Mike,
Sidestand down motor will not run, the purpose of the switch is so that with the elictric start and on the sidestand and in gear, press the start button and away the bike goes. One of our members here has achieved that. I have no idea how it bypassed the neutral isolation switch at the same time but with Indian electrics anything can happen
