i found some play inthe headraces tigtened the stearing stem nut as far as it would go but ther was still play retightened casing clip bolt and crown bolts and it seems to take up the play afer a run of 14 miles the play is back im wondering if i slacken every thing off and then tighten them up again if this will take up the play i did decentiy come off the bike recently but the front forks seem fine havent got time to dismantle the races at the moment as ive got to sort my triumph first i know not a royal enfield the enfield is a 350 2000 classic

Steve, did you loosen the pinch bolts, won't achieve much if not

yes norm i released top and bottom pinch bolts that is to say the two bolts on the lower stearing stem anthe allen bolt under the handle bar clamp

After adjusting them already and play is back, would really look toward a stripdown, after 12yrs maybe no grease left and corroded (balls out of round)only one way to have an easy mind

how big a job is it on an enfield did it on ab25 about 20years ago

Weekend, bit of messing about, not that technical but if you have spare cash Hitchcocks sell a replacement taper bearing, too think about

can you change the races without using special tools
