500 twin dynamo and distributor

So, I've been given this 1952 500 twin as a ground up rebuild and all the parts seem to be there other than a dynamo and distributor which would appear to be as rare as hens teeth. I have however got a knackered but fairly complete magdyno from a later model. Can I replace one with the other? ( don't worry about the wiring loom- there isn't one.....). Or is there a better way to go about this? Any and all suggestions more than welcome.

Hi, you'll need different timing sprockets, also make sure your magneto has the correct rotation. Check the parts list on this site for any differences, 1952 and the mag appears 1955. Vince

Excellent thank you. Now I know it's possible I can see if the magdyno is restoreable

If the magdyno is beyond repair there's always this, though you'd better be sitting down before you look at the price. CDI-based.

Hells bells. I'd never get that past the chair of the finance committee and the secret stash isn't that big............ Nice to dream though.

If you've been using with our hosts' accessories catalogue for a while, you should be familiar with the concept of expensive items by now!
