Let's start by saying I hope this helps people suffering battery drain

The main problems I can see are
Modern vehicle's are fitted with alarm's immobilizers (spelling) ECU's clock's digital trip and milage displays all of these things will drain the battery when parked as they all have a memory that needs power to work

The trick I use to overcome the issue's is to hook up a car battery to the bike battery it won't cure the problem but it will give you a couple of months without having to worry about the bike starting,
or catching fire due to a trickle maintenance charger going wrong
Another advantage to the car battery is you don't need power in the garage it can be used if the bike is under a cover even

Charge the car battery once every couple of months and all is well

You could use a deep cycle leisure battery if funds allow but a standard lead acid car battery is cheaper

Keep your car battery off the ground they don't like being on concrete or tarmac but a piece of wood is the answer here

I have both bike's in the garage connected up to a single car battery that gets charged once a month or so (if I remember)

That's my method hope it help's others

Cheers all Dai.
