warming up my 2011 EFI

If I open up before I've done about 4 to 5 miles it just spits and coughs which is embarassing if I try to pass anything. After 5 miles it's fine. Is this normal or is there anyway I can get it to warm up a bit quicker e.g. different plug etc.

I`ve had this problem on a Suzuki 1200 carbed bandit,it was a weak mixture on the pilot system,
also had it on a KLV 1000 (v-strom) fuel injection,that was a weak mixture which a power commander sorted out.
I cannot help you on your modern EFI.
