Some of you might be interested in a double sided 6" TLS front brake i recently made for my Constellation. All the parts used were parts from RE's 1960 parts bin. It took a while, lots of head scratching, ups & downs but glad I persevered with it & saw it to the end. The performance is very good - equal to that of my disc braked T140V & much better than the 7" TLS on my other Triumph. A 2 finger pull on the handlebar lever will bring it quickly to a nice controlled stop. A handful of brake lever brings the bike into "stoppie" territory.

For those curious amongst you re. the parts used: the brake arms are from the rear of a Crusader, the "tie" rod linking the 2 arms are in fact cylinder barrel studs from a Bullet. The brake plates were modified to accept a "floating brake cam bush" in place of the brake shoe pivot. A few subtle changes to the brake cams & shoes were made. Sounds simple but it took ages working it all out on paper with drawings etc etc cardboard cutouts & then finally doing the metalwork.

Best regards

Nice job. One of the guys on the French RE forum put together something very similar.

Now be careful with that older-style Avon on wet roads!
