Finally after numerous attempts set the magneto timing on the SR1 for the above bike. Bike running well now as the coil had burnt out. Anyway Adrian asked that when all working I post the name of the magneto restorer as it may help others. I used Martin of Vintage Magnetos Spares and Repairs in Bristol. I had a short tour of what spares he had on site and have never seen so many genuine Lucas parts for magnetos, dynamos and control boxes. Martin apparently also as a number of off site material in storage. His workshop has the original Lucas testing equipment. Anyway trust this helps anyone with a similar problem and sorry it took so long to post Adrian as it took several failed attempts before got timing right and only then having discovered a magneto static timing tool. Regards to all. Hugh

Thanks for that Hugh, I hope it will be of help to others.

I couldn't find a web site for him, just another form mention, perhaps you could post up his contact details for anyone interested?

Update. Thought I found Martin via a web site but obviously not. Telephone 0117 9675225. 33 Marion Road. BS15 3LE. Some added info Martin also specialises in agricultural machines and is the on call guy for Somerset Fire Service as they use magneto pumps for rural fire services. His workshop is worth the visit alone! Cheers. Hugh
