I have a 2002 Hatz (diesel) Bullet with RE gearbox.
Problems are from cold have real trouble trying to select 1st and 2nd gear, when warmed up seems ok although 1st will sometimes pop out. When lifting the gear lever can't even feel it trying to get 1st just stops as if against a stop. 2nd will rattle in and then can select 1st. Adjusted the clutch as per replies on this site.My question is which way do I move the adjuster plate to improve 1st and 2nd anti/clock or clockwise. At present set right in the middle.
Thanks any ideas.

hi nick,is your gear box grease or oil filled ,i would suggest either have a look inside the box to see if things are well and or try setting up the adjusting mech inside front cover, you may need some new springs?ourhost has some tech notes on the 4 speed box i think, good to hear from another diesel bulliteer atb paul.

Nick,
I can't tell you which way to move the adjuster plate but the easiest way is to remove the cover and with the rear wheel off the ground rotate the wheel and move the gearshifter through the gears. Move the adjuster plate and try again. If it doesn't work, move the adjuster the other way. Eventually you should find the right spot. As for not feeling it lock into gear. another turn on the detent plunger should fix it

Paul,
should have added gearbox is 90% grease 10% oil but think the problem may have been me moving the clutch operating arm out too far.Have moved it in a bit and can now select 1st without the engine running so should be ok .
