How to protect a C500 black chrome tank

Hi all,
I have a new C500 chrome black, any recommendations for tank/knee pads that fit the curves and side tank stickers.

Helicopter tape, E-bay, cut it to shape warm with hairdryer as you put it on and it will follow the curve of the tank, and as it is clear you still get the colour/chrome come through.

I have bought the tape and am thinking of using the pad off a solid colour C500 tank as a template, thanks for your input, wondering if anyone has tried anything else. I quite like the idea of the traditional black rubber pads but its difficult to find a set that works with the chrome tank side stickers.
