Dipstick Oil Temperature gauge for C5 UCE?

Does any know if it is possible to fit an oil temperature dipstick type gauge to a C5 UCE engine? The type that screws in where the oil filler cap goes. I belive the hold is 20mm by 2.5 pitch threads but i cant find an actual gauge for the UCE C5 model. I have found some on ebay which the correct insert diameters etc but wonder if there is anything that will prevent one from working, after all the UCE doesn't have a factory fitted dipstick.

Not a lot of room for a dipstick as the hole is just behind the filter compartment and an internal wall.
So the stick would not actually be in the oil but it may be able to read the internal engine temp.?

Thanks Haggis, i can see why there is no dipstick now!!! Maybe the reliance on the Oil Temp Sensor is all that is needed. I see that you can buy some Oil Temp gauges which do not have a dipstick, but like you say this would simply be measuring engine temperate, and not the actual oil.
