Norm remarked: "Something that has me confused with the Meteor ...........the low beam is yellow but the high beam is nice and white. It has an H4 Halogen globe so I don't understand it." .............................Hi Norm, thought I would bring this out separately as to not to hijack Alan R's thread. Here are some possibilities that it might be......1) Your dip switch is allowing both filaments to be powered when set at the dip position. With twice the current flowing in the feed wire to the dipswitch you will get quite a heavy voltage drop on it. Having two filaments on is not always obvious even though the main beam is still lit but much dimmer. Reverse connections to test this...........2) The wiring to the bulb socket connector has been mixed up. If the earth connection has been made on the live end of the main beam filament rather than the common end of both filaments, the main beam will work normally but when switched to the dip filament the current will have to flow through the dip filament and then also through the main filament to flow to earth. Obviously with the two filaments now in series, a reduced current flows, both filaments will be lit, but it's not as obvious as you might think as I said before................3) A high resistance on the dip side of the wiring from the switch to the bulb........reverse connections to test.........4) Bulb might be slightly faulty?.........

Thanks for that very informative post.
I have for some time suspected, that I have had the wires for my H4 bulb the wrong way around, and have been getting a yellow low beam like Norm.
However I am to dim (pun intended) to figure out how to fix it.
I guess I could rather easilly disconnect the bulb and meassure which wire are for what, but how du I then connect them to the bulb? Is the high beam the terminal in the middle of a H4 bulb?

OK. he connections wasn´t that hard to find with googles help. So now my question is: My head lamp being AC, can I via meassuring tell which wire is earth?

Les, don't worry about the dim dip, I'm a dim wit for not thinking about that, good call thanks again, alls good in the Meteors lighting world now. 12 volt and electronic ignition, can't get any better than that

Hi Dan. If you look at the rear of the bulb and position it with the middle tag at the top and the other two tags will be either side. The EARTH tag is the one on the left...the DIP is the upper tag and the main beam is on the right. It might seem the earth should be the centre one but this is not so. Please bear in mind the dip will often be less powerful (less Lumens), but the "Colour" should still be extremely white not yellow if it being powered correctly. Hope you find the problem.
