Hello,

I`m removing 5-speed LH change gearbox from my 2003 500 iron barrel Bullet.
The gear shifting shaft goes through the engine cases so it should be removed first.
I have released the "tube type" axle from the gear box by pulling the inner axles out with M5 bolts, so the shifting shaft assembly is free to move.
But I`m not able to get it out.
I would suppose removing a gearbox should be possible without too much disassembling?

I would also need inner primary chaincase (alternator rotor fall apart), but everyone in the eBay seems to be for 4-speed bikes.
I wonder if those might fit to 5-speed gearbox?

Br.,

I replaced the original 4 speed gearbox on my 350 with a 5 speed (both right side gear change).

I couldn’t see how to do the job with the engine in place and had to remove the whole lot.

Thank`s for answering.
Engine / gearbox unit is out of frame, my problem was separating them.
I removed gearbox bolts so I could move the gearbox to right and pull the shifting shaft through engine cases.
Might not be the correct method, but afterall an easy way to do it.
