..because of cold start oil pressure and the fragile oil pump drive(semi-synthetic-) 15W50 has the favour?

Your thoughts about the matter here!

I don't know anything about oil, so I have always bought what Hitchcocks recommended for my bikes and nothing has gone wrong yet.

Oops. Shouldn't have said that....

Chris

PS I agree with Papasmurf; I like the ones that look a bit like bacon rashers.

I'd say use what you want because it will run on either. ;)

(When this discussion runs out of steam, can we do one on the best tyres again? I'd have said anti-freeze but you can only really do that on car forums...).

Wotcha.

I've always run mine on 20/50 for what it's worth.

Sorry----- forgot to add}---Yes, just follow our hosts instructions and you'll be ok...... Make sure your oil filter can move under the spring loading...that's how any over pressure oil is dumped back into the system....

I really want to reply, but I have been silenced by the manufacturers of all oil grades and types, excepting 20 / 50 mineral, which I use in four locations on my Bullets.

A wise man once told me Asda's budget 20/50 is better than anything an Enfield will get in its homeland, and after several decades, and several 100,000 miles, I believe him.
