The rear light has started to remain on permanently on my 2008 350T, all other lights respond to the switches but the rear light stays on. When I press the rear brake pedal there is no discernible increase in illumination of the rear light so my initial diagnosis is a fault in the brake light switch. I've tried moving the plunger on this switch, as well as disconnecting the spring to the brake pedal but the rear light remains resolutely on.

My next action is to disconnect the wire to the brake light switch and see what happens.

Anyone else had this happen or got any ideas?

try wiggling the wires that go to the front brake switch. If this makes the brake light go off, that's where the problem lies.

Thanks for super quick reply Tom,where is the front brake switch? (I'll have a look tonight, at work today and can't recall seeing the switch - it may be obvious when I get home). Mike

Front brake switch is more or less built into the lever assembly. Look for where the wire goes in.

Thanks Tom and Pete, close inspection of the. Front brake lever revealed that it is 'sticky' on the return so the switch is not closing off. Not sure where the stickiness is located yet, could be cable or springs in the hub? The bike had a good soaking on a rainy ride a couple of weeks ago so this might have triggered it. I usually only ride in the dry (softie!!!), quite an achievement here in the Lake District! Mike

Could well be the cam spindle where it passes through the brake backplate. Needs stipping and a spot of brake grease or copperslip. If you carefully move the spindle in and out you can just about get the lube in without removing the springs which can be a bit tricky to get back. Obviously don't get lube on the linings.

Thanks Tom, I took the cable off, ran some light oil through it and adjusted it by lengthening the outer using the screw thread at the hub end. All seems good but I might explore the hub in more detail at the weekend, always useful to know what is going on in there! Many thanks for your tips and wisdom. Mike
