I am considering replacing the EFI on my Euro IV C5 with the Hitchcock’s Mikuni carb conversion. I would be interested to know if others who have done this consider it worthwhile? I don’t need the bike to go any faster but it would be nice if it had a bit more staying power on hills. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

I have an Amal mk1 concentric on one my enfields.
Its not too difficult to do.
The only troublesome bit was the fuel tap was very poor quality and hardly flowed any petrol when turned on.
I bought a better quality push/pull tap with reserve to replace it.
I have no downside to it.
It also gave more hp on the dyno than the standard efi setup.
Not many, about 3 iirc.
Much stronger mid range though and a nice stable tickover.
I believe the Mikuni is a better quality carb that the amal.?

I have fitted a Mikuni 33. I have written about it here on this forum- EFI no more I think it was called. Im delighted with it but i also removed the UCE and converted to a simple CDI with no advance but a static of 8.
I also bored out to 88mm and fitted a Honda Generator piston , much lighter and better rings and a much longer skirt. The skirt had to be cut out so it dipped between the crank halfs. Runs very well and now its run in it pulls like train.
If you wanna know more just ask.
