Modified Head Gaskets

Hello All

My Constellation is on the bench with a head gasket(s) leak.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (maybe here or maybe in a mag) about modifying solid copper head gaskets to narrow the compressed area of the seal to increase the load per unit area. This in turn means the sealing area of the gasket is ‘squashed’ more by the torque on the studs thus improving the seal...

Can anyone please point me to the article and/or describe or show pics of the modifications?

Thanks

Hi, the article you are thinking of was in RealClassic a couple of years back.

There was one in the REOC magazine too.

I've often wondered about modifying head gaskets to take o-rings round the pushrod tunnels.

Thanks Paul, I remember it in RC now you mention it...!
...sadly I pass my mags on to mates...
...but I also remember it was penned by Oily Boot Bob who I have just messaged and he’s sending me photos.
Thanks again! (And thanks to Stinkwheel too!
