Hi all
It's been a while, been busy but finally biting the you know what.
Begun dis-assembly of Doris. The feared oil pump failure turned out to not be the case. Top end all done, everything good, clean as a whistle, good oil supply. The verdict we think is shot mains, probably on the timing side. Engine out today for a rebuild in my bedroom. So far, no special tools needed, everything came apart beautifully. Have not stripped the timing case and will probably leave till I get the lump up to my flat. Pretty sure I'm going to go for a 5 speed box on re-assembly. Hoping to add a tooth on the front and have a better spread and higher cruising speed. Think I've got a 535 alloy barrel and piston in there and will work out my comp and bump it up with a thinner head gasket and a quick skim of the spigot. Am back to using my 350 even though it's only got 1st and 4th, it's getting me by. Am going back to points on re-assembly, never really got my charging good enough for the Boyer despite, gel battery, powerbox and new alternator. Any tips on the rebuild appreciated and hope all is well for my fellow bulleteers

Just remember the 5 speed will be left shift and will require a kit from Mr H to make it right shift
