I have fitted a bullet redditch swinging arm to a frame with thrust washers fitted to the inside of the frame , nice snug fit .

My concern is when the swinging arm spindle is tightened up the arm locks up tight is this correct , i have yet to fit the shocks.

the swinging arm was fitted up with the stay tool fitted between the shock absorber securing points.

your help would be appreciated , thanks ng

That is correct.
The tool holds the swingarm at the correct height while you tighten up the bolt.
This means the metalastic bushes are not under any load at normal swingarm height.
Once you have removed the tool the swingarm should be able to move up and down but under control of the metalastic bushes as the rubber twists.

I dont metalasic bushes , i just a 9/16 spindle bolt and nuts , hence when a tighten the spindle nuts it tightens the thrust washers against the swinging arm and locks up tight, is this correct ?

You have to have a bush or bearing of some kind so the swingarm can move up and down.
The meatalastic look solid from the outside.
Her is a picture of the bushes, also in the photo are white plastic bushes and spindle that are used on modern Enfield's.

Aren't reddich bullet swingarms on bronze bushes?

Yes i have a have bronze bush swinging arm for my frame.

If you have bronze bushes then you will also have a , chainstay bearing tube, as well as the long through bolt.

Yes as per picture , i have a chain stay and a 9/16 spindle , i have decided to build up the frame with the swinging arm stay loose and retighten when other items attached to see if the frame eases it shape.

Make sure the, chainstay bearing tube, is long enough.
There are different lengths.
When its fitted into the swingarm it should stick out a little at either end.?

My bearing tube is flush with ends of swinging arm thrust faces, i persume the faces on swinging arm should run against face on thrust washers in the frame ?
