Having a problem with a super meteor i am working on.
Are there any owners on here who might be able to help me out with a couple of answers to some questions?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks
Im setting up a super meteor but have come up against the famous inprecise timing marks, spent a fair while doing it and im sure it is now as correct as it can be. Can the timing being out one tooth either way cause any damage?

Hi, the marks will not line up precisely due to sprocket and chain wear. They will be fairly close. If you are one tooth out it will be obvious due to the degree of arc for each tooth. I set mine by lining up the top two and the bottom one should be no more than half a llnk out. Then I rotate back and forth to
get an average. In answer to your question You may get valve/piston contact if misaligned. Vince

Do you rotate the crank or cams to align? My marker for the crank mark is just a "bulge" in the crankcase which isnt very precise or dead central. with the cam marks lined up straight the crank mark is a little off centre.
Is it all set up with large valve clearances to relieve any pressure on the cams?
Thanks

Hi, that sounds about correct. The marker on the crank is a v shape on the casting so the mark faces downward and the cams face inward. I tend to move the crank. As previously stated one tooth out would be obvious. Do the chain tight for aligning then adjust for slack after. Vince
