hi everyone, I changed the head gasket on my bullet 350, year 2006. and the problem now is : it is leaking oil from the stud near the spark plug. I checked very well, it comes from the head stud, to be more precise, from the nut. can you give me some advice? the gasket I mounted is in composite.
Thanks all

Hi, when you fitted the gasket did you retighten the nuts after the engine had been run? Try a dowty washer on leaking stud. Vince

The only way to stop it is to do the job again using a new gasket. It’s vitally important to clean the joint surfaces to pristine condition because on these engines they are very narrow in places and what seems to be a minor piece of debris stuck to one can cause a leak. The recommended thing is to use a sealant on the narrow parts around the oil way. I’ve always had success using blue Hylomar.
Some don’t like composite head gaskets but despite me being more familiar with the traditional solid copper type I used one on my 350 without any problems and I don’t recall having to retorque the head. The bike has done over 12,000 miles since.

However, IS it a leaking head gasket?
Where's the oil coming from at the sparkplug stud? Can't be coming from the rocker area because it doesn't pass through there. The oilways (pushrod tunnels) passing through the head gasket are on the other side of the engine and the feed oilways are external.
The only way I can thing of for oil to get to that stud via the head gasket is if it leaks under the gasket from the pushrod tunnel to the barrel spigot, works its way round the spigot then goes under the gasket again to the stud. Seems improbable. Now if it was leaking on the right hand side, I'd be with you all the way on it being head gasket.
So if it's oil, is this actually a base gasket leak tracking up the stud?
Or is it a head gasket combustion gas leak?

Hi,
Today I have repeat the work with a copper gasket, and a copper washer on stud (side spark plug). It seems good!
Now I am in lockdown, and I can't try well the bike,I hope try new gasket about two weeks.
So,thanks all for info, this is a good good forum!
Good evening
