2002 RE 500 sports, with Amal carb and electronic ignition. Driving fine for the last 200 miles then out of the Blue she starts to misfire badly. Full tank of petrol and a clean carb, any ideas ?,


Also the engine number is 28513088H and the VIn number is ME3BBBS842C013088.  Does anyone know the exact model name for spares purposes ?

     Sports? no idea, what sort of tank does it have?Is it a lightning with high bars, or clip on bars?

If you think your fuel and/or mixture is fine then time to look at ignition - plug,condenser,points(a good spark)etc,etc starting from cheapest/easiest to deal with, all the best.

Can't help with the misfire, I'm afraid, but suggest you re-check your engine and frame nos. very carefully; they look very similar  to my 2002 Bullet's .


Is it kick-start or electric leg ?


I think from the numbers you've given that you may be misreading "B" as 8 and "S" as 5 (or vice versa), hence the confusion over the model identification.


I've a feeling it's probably in essence a standard 4-spd. 500 Classic Bullet, for most spares ordering purposes.
