Gearbox gets stuck in first gear

ImageHi guys

My 53 Meteor goes up though the gears no problem.

It comes down through the gears no problem.

The neutral selector works no problem.

If I come to a halt in traffic in first gear I find I cannot move the box out of first gear without either stalling the bike and then selecting neutral and restarting or pulling away without restarting and then the gear box works again... Obviously sitting in traffic with the clutch held in on a hot old bike is not ideal.
Any ideas how I might sort this one out?

Clutch drag by the sound of it.

It is absolutely clutch drag without doubt. You need to adjust the cable so you get more clutch movement clearing the clutch. If this is getting worse by the day it is very likely you clutch hub nut is coming lose. This has happened to me twice on 2 different Royals.

Do those have a neutral finder? On the Indian ones, if you pull up on the neutral finder from first, it'll pop into neutral. Not fixing the issue but maybe help with the symptoms until you do?

Think a few new parts are required to sort the wear out in the clutch operating mechanism.

Clutch worm and worm nut or should that be worn nut lol.
