Hi Tom, you could try a couple of BP6HS plugs instead, they are still short reach but have a longer , protruded [that's what the 'P' is for], centre electrode. Doing this totally fixed a Bantam for me that was doing what you describe. My theory is there was a bit of oiling up going on, with oil gradually creeping around the combustion chamber and into the electrode, but, with the longer one, it was further into the combustion chamber and out of harm's way. There should still be plenty of clearance over the piston, if you want to give them a try.
Regards, Paul.

Thanks Paul
I'll give them a whirl
I've got needle on bottom notch at the moment but thinking of dropping it 1...mid is way too lean. I'll try a combination of the two.

Tom

Condenser ok? A duff condenser will both kill plugs and burn points.

Detonation is a cause of plug damage so be careful to get the tuning right!

Using plugs + running lean = plug getting too hot?
Have you tried a harder grade of plug - B7HS?

Plugs very black and sooty.
Then just stop working..
I've dropped the needle one notch to position 4...
It was originally on mid (3) but way too lean..
I raised it to 5 but too rich. So on 4 now seems OK.. I will keep an eye on the B6HS until the BP6HS land.. I haven't tried 7s yet.
