I was always told on running in ,light throttle loads ,and vary the speed rather than staying at the same speed, also after the first 200 miles I did 50 miles of nothing else than riding around local sides streets so as to keep going up and down the gearbox ,I am sure it benefitted from this,as a result the engine was quiet and used very little oil.

Here are the Amazon links for these items: ( REALLY _ ON THIS FORUM ? )

Brilliant Sir - lets promote a huge company who pay no UK taxes and let the company who hosts this forum go out of business - genius - just genius....

I can agree with the sentiment. I note that “several” is a newcomer to the forum and might have overlooked the forum rules about advertising.

However, I doubt Mr. H would have too much to worry about if someone bought a spark plug from anywhere else. I have to admit that I did, from another seller who charged a bit less. Not only that, I’m the first to admit that I’ve bought non critical parts for my 350 direct from India.

The advantage of dealing with Hitchcock’s is that you know you’re getting a very good service from knowledgeable people who provide a remarkably rapid turnaround of orders. :D

I've just the seen the above two fatuous criticisms of my posts, especially from Rushour, in which I was trying to help the originator of the thread. I don't know why I'm bothering to reply but here goes.

1 On the availability of the three items from Hitchcocks I mentioned, I did a search for all three with them and none were available. Had they been available here I would have been glad to say so. I've used Hitchcocks for my Enfield parts and have nothing but praise for their service.

2 Mentioning Amazon as the source of these items is not "advertising". I have no connection with Amazon and gain nothing from them by my suggestions. Furthermore to then rant irelevantly at me about their taxes is ludicrous. It's quite normal on all kinds of forums to suggest where people can get parts and services when they ask, nobody would normally see anything wrong with that or consider it "advertising". You could never suggest any source of anything to anyone if people always saw some dark ulterior motive in it.

I think you two owe me an apology for this vitriolic and baseless attack when I was just trying to assist a reader.

Now why do you think the world's foremost Royal Enfield specialist and supplier of all things RE does not stock the plugs that 'several' is recommending?

1. Is this a secret cure that they never heard of?
2. Or is it that these plugs are not suitable for these engines?
3. Or is it that out hosts aren't interested in selling what RE customers need?

I suspect 2 is the answer!! 8-)

If its number 2 why are hitchcocks recommending it on their website?
NGK SPARK PLUG, IRIDIUM, LONG REACH, PROJECTED INSULATOR (SUITABLE FOR EFI MODELS)
PART No. BPR6EIX
And yes , they have them in stock.

I wasn’t able to find either BPR6ES or BPR5ES on our hosts website.
I did see the iridium version but that wasn't the number on the Amazon link.

My ‘bad’ if they are. But if they are can you tell me where?

They do stock the iridium version of the "6" but not the two ordinary copper versions I mentioned originally (which you repeat above) as you've discovered, a point I'd made earlier.

However your earlier comment that just because they don't stock them, this must mean they are unsuitable is frankly, nonsense. I don't know why Hitchcocks don't stock them but it cannot be because they are unsuitable. Depending which equivalency table you consult the NGK's I mentioned are the direct equivalents of the Bosch India fitted originally to the latest UCE bikes, the 5 being hotter than the 6. And as they do stock the iridium version of the 6 plug the copper one cannot be unsuitable as it is the same size, heat rating etc.

In practice, equivalent plugs are never going to be absolutely identical but they are way more than good enough for our Enfield purposes. I dunno about you but I'd rather run NGK plugs and cap than Bosch India. Admittedly in the few hundred miles I ran with the Bosch from new there were no problems but many owners do report trouble. Consequently there is nothing to lose by fitting NGK and everything potentially to gain.

And by the way, Hitchcocks sell the Bosch India plugs which are reputedly troublesome!

'Bosch India plugs which are reputedly troublesome!'
Tell me a plug that isn't 'reputedly troublesome' according to someone somewhere?
Just have a read of this forum and you'll find NGK come in for the same criticism.
Such generalized and generic criticisms don't have any weight or value.
Reminds me of the 'one star' comments on Amazon for products with known excellence.

Anyway I wonder why our hosts don't stock these non-iridium grade 5 plugs - apologies for my 'nonsensical' remarks!!!
