My 2019 classic 500 has been sitting in a dealers for 7 weeks waiting for a warranty part which must come through Royal Enfield importers Moto gb.Covid excuses apart has anyone had dealings with Moto gb.The dealer cannot tell me when the part is due.I have consulted legal advice on this at it seems they have me over a barrel.I bought it privately and the dealer isnt the one who sold me it seems a problem to.

Its a worn bushing in a gear drive. The timing I think. Its a catch 22 situation .The parts on order. If I pull the bike out and get an alternative sort, because the fault has to be fixed by an authorised dealer it would make the remaining warranty (7 months) null and void.

Make sure the dealer isn't just lying to you.

An MZ dealer kept me hanging for 3 months when my engine blew under warranty saying it needed a new engine but there were none in stock in the UK. When I called BSA regal (the importers), they said they had one on the shelf and nobody had been in touch with them. The dealer had actually just dumped my bike in the yard out the back and ignored it, presumably in the hopes I'd go away. I eventually called MZ Germany who were all over it like a rash and directly instructed the dealer to send them the engine for a bench strip because "It should not be possible for you to have done this, we have set rev limiter well below maximum"... Turned out to have been a flaw in the conrod casting, it had snapped in half at near maximum revs! Their chief engineer rebuilt my engine and sent it back within a week.

A worn bushing in a gear drive? The timing?
Both of these sound utter bollocks.
Whats wrong with the bike that you know for certain?
You have more patience than me thats for sure.

I have a 2019 Classic 500 and between 300 and 1000 miles I discovered that the oil sight Glass had a leak, the dealer took photo's cantacted RE and it was replaced no problems, on the 2000mile 'check' the dealer pointed out to me that the speedo was reading low so 40MPH was actually about 46MPH, again they dealt with RE and it was replaced within a couple of weeks.
I have recently had my rear disc brake looked at by the dealer as it seemed to be binding, this was stripped and rebuilt by the dealer within a couple of days,
so I am sorry to hear that you have had such issues, my dealer has been excellent and I cant fault them, I think that is probably where your problems are.

The cams have bushes in them. You can tell if they are worn because they wear smooth. Not being an engineer I don't know what this type of bush is called but when new they allow oil to sit in the bush. They are fitted on the gearbox shafts too; I have replaced all mine there. TBH I'd have looked at it myself. Hitchcock's sell the bushes, I believe. That said the dealer/importer/whoever is probably talking out of an orifice other than their mouth, rather like the German one that Harald had to deal with. One of the biggest issues with current RE bikes is the variable knowledge and servicing standards (and probably lack of training in specific models) of the dealers. I won't buy another until they raise their game, apart from which there isn't a dealer in my County, the original supplier of my bike having dabbled with them and given it up as a bad job.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it turns out to be a bit of backlash in the cams and they don't know they are adjustable so say the bushes are worn..?
Its a 2019 bike so only a year old.
Ask them to show you the part they are waiting for or the part they think is worn.
Remember, its your bike not their's.
