Let's set the ball rolling then - I use 20 / 50 mineral oil, same as I put in the engines, gearboxes and forks.

Automatic Transmission Fluid, type F for Fords. Has fewer anti-slip additives, so more grip.

Oh goody.....another "best" oil question. Here we go again....

This falls into the same category as "Best":
Tyres
Cleaning fluid
Wax (some get really upset if you even dare to call it "polish").
Petrol (some get VERY upset if you call it "Super", not "V-Power").

and if you're into cars,
Antifreeze... sorry, mustn't call it that - COOLANT.

I've tried both the recommended engine oil and ATF - it didn't seem to make much difference overall but the only time I suffered a cooked clutch was off road when using ATF.

ATF type 'F' for me. It works in my bike (bored & stroked to 625 cc, 5-speed gearbox and 5-plate clutch.) No slipping, easy freeing, just as it ought to be.

ATF, and you can use it in the forks too if you want a softer action.
