I know this flies in the face for a lot of you noisy buggers

Just taken my wife out on my new to me 500 Classic.
When we got back back I asked what did you think and she really stressed that she thought it was much nicer than Gupta, my 350, 2002 iron barrel. Let’s forget some of the reasons, but the main one, noise.

I’ve searched out host plus eBay, surely someone else in the world wants a quieter exhaust.
I seem to have a shorter, I believe, Indian made silencer. I see on our host, one with a longer baffle that seems to be not available for the last year.

I tried a mute, got it stuck! Out now.
Tried some wadding around the removable baffle. Hard to tell if it was quieter.

Please for the love of all that’s holy, does anyone know of one  thanks.

The one that might suit you would be the Watsonian-Squire "sports" silencer made for them by Brituro, who I suspect might no longer be trading.

These were made to fit a 1.75" O/D pipe, but the later Indian 350pre EFI Bullets had their 1.5" pipes flared out to 1.75" at the silencer end. Keep an eye on ebay and our hosts' used parts section. Might actually be worth phoning our hosts as they bought out W-S's spares stock after they relinquished the import business.

I do have one but I'm hanging onto it "just in case".

As far as the Indian short bottles are concerned they're not usually too bad, being (originally) a copy ofd the early 50's Redditch silencer, a nice blatt without being overly loud. Our hosts had one the same style, but at that time most of their own offerings were "straight-through" type with a perfunctory baffle, a bit too much for my ears, really.

You selfish, selfish man

Thanks for the info Adrian, now that I have a bit of background on that, I’ll keep an eye out.

Many thanks.

Me, selfish? ;) If it makes the difference between not being allowed to ride and allowed to ride sometime in what could be the not too distant future, this particular bit of hoarding makes sense.

Our hosts might of course have a better selection of exhaust mutes in stock by now, if not try Armours of Bournemouth.

Hi Presto, all resolved now due to my stupid narrow minded staring!

On our host’s page, it says unavailable for 1997 on.
Well, as my down pipe is 1.5 inch, after speaking to our host about something else, I‘ve just ordered the one that says 1988-97, even though my machine is a 2006 reg, 2002 model.

Thanks all anyway.

Good god, I’ve unleashed a beast

Fitted the ‘standard’ exhaust yesterday. Went out today expecting a noticeable drop in power and preparing to tweak the carb to suit.

My knowledge of 350s is restricted to Gupta. I love the bike and accepted the power.
However... today... wow! Pulls noticeably better, what a difference.

I thought I had the carb right before, but was obviously a bit lean. He runs very nicely now.

Do me a favour please, listen to the engine in the video and just give me your experienced thoughts. Obviously I can hear a lot more noise now I have a quieter silencer. Engine good, normal, noisier than normal, anything to look at?

Ignore tickover, I tweaked the idle mixture after the video.
