Hi Guys,

Was out on the Bullet yesterday for it's first big run since I've owned it up the Derbyshire Hills & Dales.
Found that when climbing steep twisty bend uphill first and second seems to jump out of gear and becomes a bit embarassing with the mates in-tow so to say.
Does not do it down hill but just when under a heavy load climbing.
Derbyshire does have some steep climbs.
First and second gear until you get to the top was common on the little back roads.
It seems fine on the mild rolling roads on the way home and does not go a miss.
Any ideas please as to what maybe causing this and any remedies to resolve the situation?
Your help in this matter would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Paul

I’ve had my 350 about a year now and mine used to do it a lot.

Now the big boys will be along soon and helpfully give you all the facts and things needed internally. What I can say is that with mine, whilst still does it a bit, adjusting the cable reduced a number of them and then recently when I did a gear box oil/grease change, it got better.

Still does it, but the number of times is reduced. I get it on every ride out, but very positive gear changes is the order of the day.

Third to second still does it a lot and I find I need to change down then sometimes snick up.

Might need to fiddle with the tension on the gearshift detent spring.

If you take the outer gearbox cover off, there is a slotted screw with a locknut at the top right as you face the gearbox. This sets the tension of the spring in the gear selector detent pawl. Try screwing it in some and trying again. It's a sprung wedge that engages in a slot to hold the selector in position, tightening that screw increases the spring tension.

Mind you, when mine did this (progressively started jumping out of first and got worse with time until you had to ride along with your foot on the lever), the dogs on first gear were chipped/worn and I needed to replace two gear clusters.

I videoed the inside of mine; hope this will work.
It might give some insight if you haven't been in there before.

The detent pawl in the video is having its lock nut removed with a 13 mm spanner.
NOTE THAT NORMALLY, THE SLOT SHOULD BE HORIZONTAL, NOT VERTICAL AS SHOWN.

The video shows other bits that you wouldn't need.
Good luck and keep asking if unclear.
