Regulator/rectifier

Hi my 65 Continental still has an original rectifier fitted under the toolbox ,is it a straight forward job to fit one of the modern 6v regulator/ rectifiers,I will say that the existing rectifier seems to be performing ok at least by looking at the ammeter readings.

You can always buy a spare rectifier and keep it handy if the rest of the system is OK.

I replaced the reg-rect on my 6v Meteor Minor, because the battery was getting a bit hot after a ride. The new solid state device failed in the back end of the middle of nowhere known as Upper Coquetdale, boiled the battery and left me high and dry on the Otterburn firing ranges. I think that was a once off though, because the replacement has been fine.
