Classic C5 Chain case

Hi,
The bike is a 2016 C5. There is a filler plug, labelled as such in the parts book, near the top of the chain case. Am I correct in assuming there is no need to put anything in as the lubrication comes from the engine oil? There is, of course, no level plug as was on earlier models.

You're right there, the same oil is shared between the engine, gearbox and primary drive, so it doesn't need filling separately.
The filler on that side is for use in an oil change for putting some of the oil in.
In my experience though it's usually not necessary as it often doesn't drain completely anyway.

It’s used for initial fill of a dry engine (0.3l) if I remember right. I’ll be using it on mine when I’ve completed the rebuild....No need in normal servicing but no harm in adding some through there either as long as the total measured qty is correct.

Hi,
That's a relief. Thanks for the advice.
