my choke vibrates on whilst on the move --its not slack -- anyone come up with an ingenious solution to stop this ?
as a temporary solution I,ve cable tied it..

There is a sort of tabbed anti-shake washer under the central chrome boss/cover (under the screw). Perhaps it's flattened/broken?

Mine used to rattle on too, it used to need the centre bolt tighening periodically to prevent it. I think I eventually put loctite on the threads.

Theres a big wavy friction washer under the top cover. You can adjust the amount of friction with the screw on top. Screw it clockwise until you have the desired mount. If it doesn't have any effect then take the top of and see if the washer is broken.

I fitted an AMAL carb to my 350. The carb came with a choke mechanism so I bought a lever and a cable. Then I realised the engine started and ran perfectly well using only the float tickler, even on very cold days, just like my old BSAs used to (I used to ride them as daily transport even through the winter snow).

So I removed the choke mechanism from the carb and never fitted the lever or the cable.

That might be a hint.....

by the way- since cleaning the carb as suggested a while ago -it runs so much better -and yes it was simple

Interesting. The PO fitted an Amal monobloc to my 350. When it is around zero degrees, I need full choke. But then again, I need to blip the throttle, so a contradiction of myself

It undoubtedly depends on how the carb is set up. Weaker mixture will need choke, for obvious reasons.
