Getting my Bullet back on the road

My 2002 500 Bullet has been SORN'ed for a few years and I want to get it back on the road. Prior to SORN it was running perfectly.
I assume basics are change oil, filter and plug, drain tank, drain carb , - I have a new battery.
Any other things I need to consider and any tips on things to look for would be greatly appreciated.

The carb could use a good thorough clean out if there was old fuel in there for any length of time, the points might need a clean too. Wiring earths are probably worth checking, lube the control cables and chain, just do all the checks you'd do before taking the bike for MoT.

Some years ago I bought an old but previously restored Redditch Bullet which had been in storage for a long time, front and rear brake drums had got some rust to the point where the wheels would barely turn. Fortunately the drum surfaces cleaned up surprisingly well.
