Even more Meteor Madness

My ongoing self isolation in the shed otherwise known as the 53 Meteor rebuild is reaching its end. Obviously the bike has undergone a number of modifications or bodges over its 67 years which I have been reversing as part of the rebuild..

My question is what is the correct mounting position for the Regulator, and coil on the 53 Meteor?.. Image

Dual seat or sprung saddle on your Meteor? Not sure about the coil, but CVC units often lived under the saddle on older bikes.

I've gone for a sprung saddle... When I got the bike both items were I. The right hand tool box along with the ign switch.. But the toolbox has had about a dozen holes drilled in it.. I've bought a new toolboxso checking before I drill any holes...

I've looked at photos of both 500 and 700 and the Regulator is definitely not under the saddle..

Thanks Paul

That's exactly what I was looking for... Assume ign switch in toolbox is correct..

Tom..

Hi Paul

Is there a bracket for the Regulator?... Looks like the coil attaches to the front mudguard section.. Thats an easy one..

Hi Tom, I think the ignition switch was in its original location on this machine, which, if I remember, was a one owner machine from new which had been laid up for about 40 years.

Paul.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the great photos..
I can't see if there's a bracket that te regulator mounts to.. I don't appear to have anything to bolt to....

Do you know? ...
Can't work out how to add photos on phone.. :(
