Bike: 2006 Electra X. I’ve got the fork legs/stanchions off. Next I need to get off the castellated valve port off. Looking at it from the bottom of the fork is it counter clockwise (lefty-loosey) to remove it or clockwise (righty-tighty)? TIA for your help. - Matt

I did mine last week and I'm pretty sure it's standard thread but I had to buy the special tool and then give it a sharp rap with a hammer before the threads would loosen. I started on the old bodge approach of a screwdriver in the slot but it immediately started to chew up the metal so I stopped and ordered the tool.
If you're in the vicinity of Yorkshire then I'd be happy to loan you the tool as I hope that I wont need it for a while.

Update: Oops - just saw you're in the US - probably too far for you to drop in

Yes standard thread. Turn the collar anti-clockwise to undo as you look at it. As above, you need a c-spanner. I found a quick blast with the heat gun made things much easier.

C-spanners come in handy for adjusting preload on various twinshock bikes and for the steering stem locknuts on many Japanese bikes. Also for a variety of locknuts on push-bikes.
