Indian alternator to Reditch engine.

I am in the process of purchasing a 1956 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 bottom-end minus gearbox and alternator.
I intend using parts from a 1989 Indian Bullet engine to complete this engine and I am wondering if anyone can confirm that my existing Indian alternator will fit.
I am particularly concerned pegarding the fit of the rotor onto the crankshaft as I believe that the Reditch and Indian cranks are a diffent diameter.
I have looked on the parts book on this site and it does not quote Indian parts as an alternative for 1956 engines, but this may not preclude the whole Indian alternator fitting.
I have noticed that a few people on this forum are or have done similar projects, any advice will be appreciated.

I don't THINK the rotor fitting is an issue. The lucas rotors (part: LU/54213901) is listed as fitting both reddich and Indian models.
Where you might run into issues is with the clearance under the chaincase cover for the stator, others may be able to advise.

The Indian Bullet crankshaft pre-EFI (and the odd TCI model) is the same diameter for the alternator as the post '55 UK-built Bullets, though a 56 Bullet would have had a different outside diameter rotor and stator to suit, the Indian version is a copy of the later Lucas alternators.
You didn't mention which chaincases you want to use. If you are using the earlier Redditch alternator inner primary chaincase you will probably need a stator adaptor ring, which our hosts sometimes have in stock. Failing that you can fit the Indian inner and Redditch outer chaincases. I'm using this mixture on one of my bikes with no problem at all, the Indian inner cover will obviously have your stator bolted straight on. You can also upgrade to a Lucas RM21 or Sparx 005 at your leisure as these fit the Indian inner covers too.

Thanks for the replies, I intend to use an Indian inner chaincase and alternator, so hopefully all will fit together without any issues.
The rotor was my biggest concern, so fingers crossed all will bolt together.
