Hi All

Trip meter was up to 150 miles so thought I would top up , managed to get £6 or approx 1 gallon in !

The trip meter over reads but I know I did approx 110 miles since I filled tank ,,, 110 mpg is amazing

Steveg, You don't say what model you are riding, but my EFI on long runs, over some mountainous parts in Switzerland will give me around 106 mpg (UK measures).

The old Bullet was rarely better than 65 mpg. cheers TrevorCH

To get a true MPG average you really need an accurate reflection on the distance travelled, (miles or KM) and the actual fuel quantity used.
I fill to brimming, ride and note the trip distance, (after verifying accuracy either with satnav or over a known distance) then when close to empty, refill and calculate the average over a tankful to get a more accurate figure.
If you are getting over 100mpg then thats great.

In my three years+ of Bullet ownership, cant say I've been overly impressed with my mpg figures. I've kept records since Dec-2010 and I've recorded a worst of 46.32 and a best of 92.90. No access to sophisticated Top Gear type recording equipment, but it shows up, more than anything, even at this amateur level, just how inconsistent and "quirky" that each and every Bullet appears to be? I write down the odometer reading and the amount of fuel I've put in at each fill. Not sure if my calculations are the most accurate but this is the weay I do it: Divide miles covered by litres to fill up multiplied by 4.5. eg: Yesterday, tanked up with 9.85 litres. Covered 232 km since last fill. 232 km x .621 = 144.07 miles divided by 9.85 litres = 14.62 x 4.5 = 65.81mpg. Not sure how others calculate it, but I think this way is fairly accurate. A mix of commuting/blasting/short runs/long runs plus warming up, especially in winter time and state of tune, or not, all seem to play a part in giving very inconsistent figures. But if I do record 60+ with the kind of riding I do, I'm fairly happy, especially with todays silly prices. Paid £1.49.9 yesterday for Shell V Power? My bike is a 10,000km 2000 model 500 classic. I'm impressed when I read of chaps on 350's doing over 100mpg. Like to know how they manage that? Diesel is the way forward..............I'll wait until my engine expires before converting mine?

Since buying my E S Classic new in 07, I have kept a log of all maintenance proceedures, repaires and fuel used. The bike is only used for short journeys, mainly on dirt covered back lanes, with few appreciable distances in top gear. From new it has done over 12000 kms at the equivalent of 73 mpg

Bullet Train and all, your calculation is pretty close; using a converter app. I get 66.6 MPG, but such a small error you can forget. My EFI gave 110mpg on a recent 200km tour in the Black forest with a Swiss RE Club. Lots of 3rd and 4th gear through the mountains, some high altitude fast runs. My German dealer is just building a special with an 800CC Lombardini diesel twin, he has also built and owned various RE with Harz installed. We usually final diesel machines run at the back of the pack, voluntarily, because of the smell. Each to his own. TrevorCH

I'm still impressed. I take it that the later model Bullet's, post Classic types, are far superior to the old school design. I'll have keep an eye/ear on my motors' state of tune, and perhaps improve my riding technique/habits?
Cant beat the smell of an oil burner chugging away. The Big Knock Diesel Rally in Billingshurst was a sight /sound and smell to behold earlier this year? Bullet Train.

My Classic EFI has done 77mpg for its first 2300 miles. Rarely approach 60mph but it has to carry around 200lbs. Mix of rural and urban rides.

Is the bullet electa x with carb more efficient fuel wise than the later EFI models ?
