Oil leak

Whilst I appreciate the patented automatic final drive lubrication system ;) it’s getting a little heavy.

350 4 speed. So chain oil has got heavier. 2002/03 model. What’s the normal issue? Gearbox seal or back of primary case?

You will have to remove the chain case to see, so you might as well change both unless it is obvious which one is leaking.
One will leak thin oil, the gearbox will have the thicker grease/oil.

If you replace the primary oil with ATF (a good idea anyway) it's usually red in colour so you can tell where the leak is.

Thanks Pete too.

I have a head leak too, so have just ordered the gaskets for that and to save postage, also bought the gaskets/seals for both the clutch side and gearbox side. If it is coming off, might as well do a proper job.

Oh yes, I have just changed the drive fluid to ATF..... Yes I know, should have checked the chain then!
