since you posted this earlier, I gather from the MBR form that you have now sorted out the rotor/stator clearance. The heat from any contact friction will fry a stator. You might have caught yours in time, or the damage might already have been done.
An internally shorting stator needs replacing, but if chaincase clearance is still a concern, I would check with our hosts first to see how wide their encapsulated replacement upgrade stator is, compared to what you already have fitted.
