Hi Marko

Yes I know.... I've build dozens of Brit bikes.. This is the first one that's really stumped me.. I've had a couple of 350 Bullets and a 59 Connie so I'm pretty conversant with RE's from a self taught home spanner twirling perspective..... The bike has an alloy tank so no tank crud present.... The 53 Meteor on the other hand runs fine lol... Tom

OK well the primary jet drilling has been blasted through with carb cleaner.. Hopefully that'll do the trick..

Hi Guys--------just thought I'd post this item extracted from AMAL's notes on Mk1 Concentrics}------------------------------ Pilot Circuit
Mark 1 Concentrics are equipped with two types of pilot jets. '2 Strokes' use a removable pilot jet which should be replaced if it is damaged or shows signs of oxidisation. '4 Strokes' generally use a pressed in bush pilot jet in the gallery behind the pilot air screw.

Fuel residues and oxidisation can cause problems with the pilot circuit, particularly in bikes that have been left standing with fuel in the carburetters for several months or more. It may be sufficient to clean the pilot circuit with an aerosol carburetter cleaner, stopping the various outlets selectively to ensure the entire system is clear. Do not forget to inspect the two pilot circuit outlet holes, either side of the slide location slot, in the bottom of the carburetter bore. If necessary the pilot bush can be cleaned by removing the pilot air screw.

By using a No 78 or 0.016"drill; hold securely in a suitable extension, rotate lightly in the bush to remove encrusted deposits.

Hi Tom, Your engine should run well enough with the 28mm carb, if set up correctly, but for the best performance, I would be fitting a 34mm MK2 Amal, with the inlet port and its entrance suitably modified. Regards, Paul.

Hi Guys------in another listing on this Forum a certain Mr. SUDS appears to have a Mk.1 1000 series at 34mm.....Might be available for sale ??

Hi Alan, Mr Suds owns one of the 'Asbo' Bullets and has only just aquired that carb ... Regards, Paul.
