My bad, it is the Tyne class lifeboat, and they run Detroit 2 stroke diesels. Memories of 6 years ago.

Going back to marine applications for the Deltic diesel, when I worked at the government sponsored research vessel base at Barry in South Wales we had a ship called the "John Murray" which was powered by two Deltics , I remember railway engineers occasionally turning up to do maintenance on them. I am not a marine engineer but worked in the asscociated workshop/machine shop shoreside and participated in various scientific cruises as one of the maintenance/deployment staff looking after deck gear and machines required for the job. I always fancied fitting one of those old Enfield flat twin diesels in a Cossack sidecar outfit ! Mortgages and kids threw those intentions into the brambles !
