Looks like we will all have to put up with batteries like this soon, because we won't be allowed engines, that's for sure ...

So to summarize: Buy, fit, forget, don't exhaust the battery and don't get mugged for one of those fancy chargers..REgards, Mac..

Echoing BW I am once again wondering why something has to be mended that patently is not broken.
OK so I now have a sealed alarm battery but that was replacing a tired beyond belief old standard lead acid and it was cheaper.
It has not been seen since fitted 2013, has kept its charge during the months when I could not ride or only the occasional ride with long periods of inactivity between.

Progress doesn’t only happen by replacing a ‘broken’ item but also by making/using a better item – which in my view the Lithium type battery is (price apart!). Otherwise we'd still all be on rigid frames and girder forks with hand-change gears and solid tyres.

Hey Presto, Having read your words - Progress doesn’t only happen by replacing a ‘broken’ item but also by making/using a better item - I do not nor did I disagree. Maybe you might read and perhaps understand my words.
My "better item" did not cost £162 inc VAT & carriage
you also said - Otherwise we'd still all be on rigid frames and girder forks with hand-change gears and solid tyres.
Perhaps you have not noticed the trend of chopping bullet frames for conversion to rigid and chucking tele forks for girders. The hipsters have not yet gone back to solid tyres but no doubt they would if such fripperies were available

Another point to consider regarding the advance from rigid rear ends and girder forks to more modern suspension is that they were real improvements, which could benefit ride quality and handling. A 12 volt battery is a 12 volt battery, end of, it doesn't matter what it cost, it will still give / take 12 volts. A big improvement over acetylene lights, perhaps, but a lead acid battery at about 20 quid is advanced enough for me and my bikes - the other £140 odd can go somewhere else, thanks very much !

I've not noticed a trend towards rigid frames and girder forks on any cutting edge racing machines - I was talking about progress, not regress. ;-)

Me again. Looking at Scalyback's scary clip,am I right in assuming the biggest killer of these batteries is overcharge. If this happened on the road, would I get a MIL warning or just go BANG..

While Hitchcock stopped offering girder forks quite a while back due to quality problems with suppliers there are many other sources on t'internet.
of course none of this has anything to do with "cutting edge racing machines" whatever that means in relation to the 'umble Bullet in its many guises and disguises.
