Paul I have left the filter in and this does not appear to restrict the oil preasure/flow in any way. the inside diameter of the oil rocker tube is only 2.75mm in anycase, the on that Hitchcocks sell is the same as the one I got off of ebay, as long as it has glass and not plastic for the sight glass. Ran my bike bretty hart and had no issues with it.

Paul, forgot to mention that when on the runout yesterday, when going at some speed I could momentarely look down at the sight glass and see air bubbles in it which tells me that the scavenge oilpump is doing its job ang clearing all the oil from the crankcase so no preasure problems.

Hi Kogel. no problem with the engine bars, The fuel filter you can get for about £7, free delivery on ebay assuming you are going to connect it by rubber pipe, if you are going to have the soldered one I can make you one but you will still have to cut your rocker oil pipe and solder it on. contact me via my email.

Hi Pete, Thanks for the link, I did do a pressure test on the filter I used before puting it into the system I have also done one on another one from a different supplier, Both held at 100psi, it is better to be safe than sorry. Down the line if it fails at some point in the future I will have to modify it but I think it will cope.

As Leon has pointed out the glass filter has been suggested before to monitor oil flow, in fact I did too on this site about 3-4 years ago. Although the glass filter looks attractive the same effect can be obtained by simply removing a two inch section from the oil rocker pipe at any chosen position and a clear transparent, thick walled plastic tube inserted. The two cut pipe ends can belled or flared out easily by tapping in the ends with a large nail or similar tapered point. Then two pipe clips fitted to hold the pipe in position, with the flared pipes ends giving a secure fix. The oil pressure does not or should not rise to a high pressure in the scavenge line but if it does the oil flow relief mods to the rockers should be done the relieve the scavenge pump load anyway. The temperature of the oil will rarely ever get higher than 80 degrees C.. The advantage of the plastic pipe is that it is non-breakable.

Just to add that any scavenge oil flow is always punctuated with air bubbles as the scavenge pump always exceeds the feed pumps flow rate. The oil bubbles contained in the return flow provide the visible flow movement irresepective of pipe diameter.
