Waltr, if you want a 535 your best bet is to start with a CGT-535. There is not much to be gained by enlarging a 500cc, expensive hobby; going to 535 is something for when you've blown the piston up. Do look at the stock figures, you gain 1bhp and 2Nm. You can get a lot more grunt just by tweaking a 500. It's never going to be a fast bike, so I wouldn't start from here. You can turn it into something like a poor man's Velocette, fast in its day but by modern standards not.

Torque test curves for a V7 (you're familiar with those?) shows some 40-ft.lb = 54Nm. The EFI can be increased from its 41Nm by a good 20% (that's on bhp, if not more on torque) bringing it to some 50Nm, which is pretty impressive in a smaller bike.

a new member from Aussie (still a Kiwi at heart though) signing in for the first time. 60 years ago I really hankered after a 350 Bullet, but for some reason, now clouded in antiquity, I purchased a Matchless G80 instead. I have now decided it's time to finally scratch that 60 year old itch.
Your comment about a very small increase in power and torque if upsizing a 500cc with the 535cc barrel doesn't apply if you do what I intend to do, which is fit the 535cc performance kit from our hosts, once they have a new supply of cams.
The standard 500 developes 27.5 horespower, whereas their 535 performance kit hits 40 horsepower, a 50% increase. Still not a potent machine, especially as I am downsizing from a Ducati Multistrada, but a substantial improvement never the less.
And as the only bits that really need running in are the rings and cylinder bore it would be a wasted exercise to me to run the standard engine in and then run it in once more with the performance kit fitted, so I am being patient for once in my life. I don't intend to pick up a new bike until the kits become available again and one has been fitted to my bike.
